Rappers may be forever talking about their amorous conquests, their crew and their guns, but for rapper Soulja Boy, the similarities did not stop at his music.

The 23-year-old rapper was arrested on Wednesday for being found in possession of a loaded weapon during a traffic stop. The policemen who arrested him pulled him over when he allegedly ran a stop sign.

Though he wasn't driving the vehicle, the police were suspicious of him and peered in the car. He was spotted with a loaded revolver on his person, which sparked the subsequent arrest.

Soulja Boy, by his real name DeAndre Cortez, was immediately taken into custody and charged with gun possession on a felony charge. The bail was set at $35,000 (€25,816).

This isn't the first time Soulja has a run-in with police forces. In 2009, he was charged with obstruction after he fled from officers that ordered him to stop, during the filming in an Atlanta abandoned building.

Back in 2011, he was again arrested by police officers in Georgia after a traffic stop. At the time, he was found in possession of marijuana, cash and guns. He and four other passengers from the Cadillac Escalade they were driving in were arrested.

The rapper is famous for his 2007 hit-song “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” but also for his collaboration with Drake from last month. The “We Made It” song by Drake used audio from Soulja's “We Made It.”

In a recent interview, Soulja Boy also opened up on his quick rise to fame: “You got some rappers, that’s been rapping 10-plus years, they just now getting their first million. My first year I started off, I did my first million dollars when I was 17. Of course that’s going to come with some haters.”

The story is still developing.
