A video taken from the alpha version of the upcoming Rainbow Six: Siege has been leaked online and allows all those who are interested in the new take on the classic shooter series to see one of the maps the developers have created, called Plane, and to get some details about the core gameplay mechanics.

The original video has been deleted from a couple of sources already, but this Blip TV link seems to be solid at the moment.

A leaked image also suggests that those who pre-order will be able to test the game.

Gamers can see more than 10 minutes of action, and the game, even at this early stage in its development process, seems very solid from a graphics point of view, although the platform on which it is running is not mentioned (probably high-end PCs).

Fans of the Rainbow Six series will also notice that the mechanics of the coming Siege title seem to be designed with accessibility in mind, presumably in order to make sure that as many shooter fans as possible will try out the title when it is out.

The development team at Ubisoft Montreal seems to be determined to introduce gameplay features like hit markets, sprinting, loads of ammo, kill cams and more, that are associated with the modern incarnations of the FPS genre.

On the official Reddit of the title, most fans are disappointed with the additions and would like to see a return to the classic Rainbow Six experience or to at least have the option to turn off the new elements.

Rainbow Six: Siege will have to walk a fine line

As with every new installment in a series that has always had dedicated fans but never managed to become a huge hit, the new title from Ubisoft will have to carefully balance modern ideas, designed to give it a big audience, with classic elements that will show it has not lost its identity.

The developers have already said that Rainbow Six: Siege will feature destruction and a new set of environments.

The Montreal team has also suggested that realism will be one of the elements it will focus on.

Rainbow Six: Siege will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony at some point in late 2015, unless Ubisoft decides to introduce a new delay to make sure that the quality of the title is up to par.
