Rainbow Six Siege has just received an official release date of October 13, alongside a new gameplay video that portrays some impressive cinematic sequences from the upcoming tactical shooter. The long-awaited title will appear at the same time worldwide, on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.

The Rainbow Six series has been around for quite some time, with many different installments appearing throughout the years. In recent times, however, the franchise entered a cone of shadow, as since the Vegas iterations, not much else has been heard about it.

After spending some time on the Rainbow Six Patriots experience, Ubisoft Montreal abandoned the project and is currently focusing on Rainbow Six Siege, a multiplayer-focused title.

Siege is coming this October

After sharing some interesting details in recent months, the French company now brings forth an actual release date, October 13, for Rainbow Six Siege, accompanied by a pretty impressive video.

As you can see below, the new title focuses heavily, as its name suggests, on siege situations, where counter-terrorism forces led by the Rainbow Six organization must assault buildings occupied by terrorists and save hostages.

"Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is inspired by real world counter-terrorist organizations, and puts players in the middle of lethal close-quarters confrontations. For the first time in a Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six game, players will engage in sieges, a new style of assault where enemies have the means to transform their environments into modern strongholds while Rainbow Six teams lead the assault to breach the enemy’s position," the studio explains.

Lots of different editions are coming

Multiple editions of Rainbow Six Siege will be available on October 13, starting with the Gold Edition, which includes the actual game plus its season pass.

There's also the Art of Siege Edition, which throws in a collector's box, a gold skin pack for weapons, and a 120-page tactical guide.

In case you buy your copy from the uPlay Shop, there's an even more limited Tactical Elite Edition, that adds the Season Pass on top of the Art of Siege version.

Those who pre-order the game, no matter the edition, get automatic access into the upcoming closed beta stage, which begins at a later date this year.
