Ragnarok Odyseey ACE has just launched on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms, allowing its players to slay giants and battle funky fantasy creatures.

Xseed Games' localized version of the game is a massively expanded version of the original role-playing game Ragnarok Odyssey, bringing so much new content that the game is now almost double in size.

The most prominent feature of the newly-released Ragnarok Odyssey ACE is a 400-story tower, packed full of stories and monsters to defeat, as the PlayStation Blog informs.

The tower will only become available to those who reach the end of the original game, which is now the new game's midpoint.

Progressing through Ragnarok Odyssey ACE, returning players will discover many new skills, weapon types, NPC sidekicks and many other features and improvements.

ACE is the first of the Ragnarok games that appeared on both the PlayStation 3 as well as the PlayStation Vita, and as such will fully support cross play for up to four different players, as well as cross-save functionality between the two platforms.

The game also allows players to take import their old saved games from Ragnarok Odyssey, bringing over their character's name, appearance and cards (except any cards equipped on their outfit or acquired through NEAR), ready to take a new trip in the expanded game.

The game was developed by GameArts and GungHo, who basically re-wrote the game's infrastructure in order to allow all the new features to be implemented, which is the main reason why ACE couldn't simply be released as a DLC pack.

Players who already own costume packs from the original Ragnarok Odyssey will be able to download those same costumes for the new game free of charge, as a thank you for coming back to the game.

There are also five other packs available now, two collections of musical tracks (both of which will be offered free of charge forever), a collection of costume pieces from Grandia (which will also be free forever) and two other costume sets, the Royal Ball Outfit Set and the Gorgeous Headwear Set, which are offered for free for the first two months, as a bonus gift for early adopters of Ragnarok Odyssey ACE.

The development team has also announced that they will release numerous packs of free DLC in the coming weeks, from the start of April through the start of June, with each weekly release to include one set of licensed costumes from various other games, as well as a couple of other goodies, such as special quests or even more costume pieces.

Ragnarok Odyssey ACE is available in both digital and physical form for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms, since yesterday, April 1.
