Optimus T is one of the best choices for T-Mobile customers who are looking for an affordable Android smartphone. The phone is currently offered by the carrier for $239.99 unlocked, or for as low as $39.99 after a $50 mail in rebate and with a new two-year contract.
However, it seems that RadioShack is preparing a better deal for T-Mobile customers who do not wish to be tied down with a monthly contract.
According to the guys over at AndroidCentral, via an anonymous tipster, the Shack will be offering the Optimus T for only $175 without a monthly contract.
The retailer has yet to announce the offer, but we know that the phone's sales package will be similar to the postpaid handset available at T-Mobile.
Optimus T is T-Mobile's own branded Optimus One device. The handset was launched by the carrier last year and is slated to receive the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software upgrade sometime this year.
The Optimus T is known for being a budget smartphone, thus it is powered by a 600 MHz ARM 11 processor (with Adreno 200 GPU) and packs 512 MB RAM.
It comes with a medium size 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with 262k colors and 320 x 480 pixel resolution, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off of the screen.
Other key features of the Optimus T include HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPS with A-GPS support, 170 MB internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB card included) and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support.
The phone's 3.2-megapixel rear camera features autofocus, face and smile detection, as well as video recording function (VGA@18fps). Its high-capacity 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 700 hours (550 hours for 3G) of standby time or up to 8 hours (7 hours for 3G) of talk time.
