Major retailer RadioShack plans to cut AT&T iPhone prices effective July 31st, possibly to deplete its stock and make room for the upcoming iPhone 5.

Although the information has yet to be officially confirmed by the retailer, a screenshot of a recently leaked internal RadioShack document suggests that the iPhone 4 16GB/32GB and iPhone 3GS 8GB prices will be consistently lowered.

According to this document, customers will be able to purchase an AT&T iPhone 3GS 8GB for only $19.99, while the 16GB iPhone 4 and 32GB iPhone 3 will be available for $169.99 and $269.99, respectively. Obviously, all prices require a new two-year AT&T agreement.

RadioShack's move somewhat confirms Apple's iPhone 5 release date, which is thought to be launched sometime in September / October.

On related news, another U.S.-based retailer, Target is also rumored to be cutting the iPhone prices and the values are almost similar.

Surprisingly, but while Target’s iPhone 3GS is offered for the same $19.99 price, the 16GB iPhone 4 and the 32GB iPhone 4 are a bit cheaper at Target, as customers can purchase any of the two for $149.99 or $249.99, respectively.

However, the latest hearsay points to an October release for the iPhone 5, even though AT&T's plans to block its employees vacations during the last two weeks of September.

All in all, it appears that both major retailers will have enough time to deplete their iPhone stocks and make room for the next-generation iPhone 5, especially if it is released in October.

Furthermore, it won't come as a surprise if more retailers announce cheaper prices for the iPhone in the near future.

It is also worth mentioning that customers can trade in an iPhone 3GS and get $100 off the iPhone 4 and than get another 5% off by paying with a Target credit card.
