A great two in one accessory...

Well it's not exactly the iPod companions that we heard rumors about... but it is pretty cool none the less.

The new iPod Radio Remote combines the best of a FM tuner and a remote for your iPod, all in one small, stylish accessory. Skip tracks, play and pause, and change playlists, no matter if your iPod is in your backpack or pocket. Search for radio stations, with feedback on the iPod's display, program favorite stations and see the track information for those stations that support the Radio Data System (RDS).

The entire device is very small and light weight (just over half an ounce), and the interface is that of the familiar click-wheel. You can use the built in clip to securely attach it to your clothing, or any handy strap that happens to be on you, and you are ready to go. Also because it does not use any batteries, and draws power from the Pod itself, it will always be there when you need it without any additional hassle.

The iPod Radio Remote supports FM stations from 87.5 to 107.9MHz (in both the US and European standards) and 76 to 90MHz (the Japanese standard). You can switch between the different standards when traveling, making it 100% portable, just like the iPod itself.

"The iPod Radio Remote combines two great features in one elegant product," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing in the press release. "The iPod Radio Remote is both the best remote control and the best FM radio listening experience for iPod."

It is compatible with the Nano and the fifth generation iPods, plugging into the docking port. The Remote Radio package includes a pair of earphones that have a shorter cable, making them just the right length, but you can use any pair of headphones thanks to the 3.5mm stereo minijack port on the remote.
