This is definitely not the first sighting of Sapphire's newest FleX series video card, but it is probably the most important, as the company has officially introduced its latest version of the AMD Radeon HD 6950.

It seems that, amidst all the reports and analysis about what the various IT segments have in store for their target customers, there are still some companies that have new products to show off.

Fortunately, in this case, the news is not about the high possibility of Android tablets turning into the bane of their makers.

This once, it is Sapphrie that is garnering attention for having added a new member to its collection of video controllers bearing the FleX brand.

Verily, this is not the first sighting of this particular product, since it was actually introduced last week.

What happened now, however, was the official release, meaning that online vendors should start listing the product shortly.

Essentially, the Radeon HD 6950 FleX it is the newest, high-end card based on an AMD GPU (graphics processing unit) to leave Sapphire's labs and has, among other things, Eyefinity support.

For those that do not remember, Eyefinity is a technology that lets one extend the display area over three monitors (or more) at the same time. To this end, there exists a pair of DVI ports, an HDMI connector and, as an extra. two mini DisplayPorts.

Normally, at least one monitor has to have a mini DisplayPort, but this card can work with three DVI monitors, which are cheaper, although one will need HDMI connectivity.

As for the rest of the specs, Sapphire's card has 1,408 Stream Processors, 2 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, a memory interface of 256 bits and clock speeds of 800 MHz for the GPU and 5,000 MHz for the memory.

Unfortunately, the outfit failed to include actual pricing details in its press announcement.
