Rockstar has revealed that Midnight Club: Los Angeles will be out in North America on September 9 and in Europe three days later, on September 12. The racing simulator will head to both PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 when it launches.

It will be set in Los Angeles and will contain one of the most accurate representations of the city ever seen in a videogame. Most of the main avenues will be translated in bits and the player will literally be able to cruise from one edge of the town to another in the new game in the Midnight Club franchise.

New additions to the franchise consist of a new day-to-night cycle and some cool weather effects, adding a realistic aspect to the game. It seems that some of the cars will be more vulnerable to skidding in rain soaked streets than others, so making sure you adapt to the weather will be very important.

After races, if any damage was inflicted upon the vehicle, the player doesn't have to drive back to the garage for repair. He can opt instead to Quick Fix the car and he will see old, junkyard like parts as they are added to the car. Performance as well as looks will be affected by the change so the player will have to find his way to a garage where the high performance parts can be added back.

Development duties are handled by Rockstar San Diego and they claim that the game is so streamlined that almost no loading time will be presented to the player as he translates from free roaming mode to race mode and back.

Sam Houser, who is the boss of Rockstar, said, "From the beginning, Midnight Club has been about street racing in an open world. With our team at Rockstar San Diego we have developed a game that we feel once again pushes the boundaries and expectations of what a racing game can be".

The game will also get a portable version, developed for the PlayStation Portable by the London studio of Rockstar. It seems that it will make its debut at the same time as the console version of the game.
