With corporate design, but suitable for personal use as well

Research in Motion (RIM) announced the brand new BlackBerry 8700r. The wireless handheld offers e-mail, phone functions, Web browsing and enables customers to install corporate data applications. The company expects that the success of its older models will turn the corporations into buying this model.

Nokia said that will use BlackBerry software in its forthcoming E Series business phones, announced for 2006.

RIM claims that its new device allows faster Web browsing, attachment viewing and an increased application performance. BlackBerry 8700r features a QVGA LCD display that sports over 65,000 colors at a 320x240 resolution. A specially designed built-in sensor, adjusts automatically the display and the keyboard lighting. The keyboard is a full QWERTY one.

The device uses an Intel processor, 64 MB of flash memory and 16 MB of SRAM. BlackBerry 8700r is also a complete quad-band GSM/GPRS phone, with features such as conference calling and call forwarding. It supports GPRS and EDGE networks.

Users will appreciate the presence of Bluetooth technology and the built-in speakerphone for using the device hands-free.

The BlackBerry 8700r will be priced at 499 C$ and will be available in Canada at RIM's selected dealers.
