A new accessory for the BlackBerry smartphones

Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion, the maker of BlackBerry, announced recently the release of a new accessory for its users, in the form of BlackBerry Presenter, a device that should help users leave their laptops at home when they need to deliver a presentation. The new BlackBerry Presenter is a small and light device that can be easily connected to a monitor or a projector to display Microsoft PowerPoint presentations that are wirelessly transmitted from the BlackBerry smartphone of the user.

“Mobile professionals are always looking to carry less when travelling,” said Glenn Laxdal, vice president, Product Management, Research In Motion. “BlackBerry Presenter equips mobile professionals with a simple, secure and convenient way to deliver presentations directly from their BlackBerry smartphone, giving them the freedom to leave their laptops behind.”

The new BlackBerry Presenter also offers control of the presentations so that users can navigate among them, view notes, and other more. At the same time, its wireless (Bluetooth) connectivity options enable the speaker to move freely around during the presentation. The device comes with Bluetooth Version 2.0 + EDR, Class 1.5 connectivity, measures 3.4 x 2.4 x 0.9 inches and weighs in at 140g.

RIM further revealed that it planned on bringing the new device at the International 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, where it would demonstrate its innovative capabilities.
