A new flavor of the BlackBerry Desktop Software v7.0 is now available for download, namely version 7.0.0.59 Bundle 60.

The new version of the desktop application was designed for all those BlackBerry owners who are not yet on the 7.1 iteration of the BlackBerry platform.

Through the BlackBerry Desktop Software, users can easily sync files with their BlackBerry smartphone or BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, they can backup and restore data on the device, or can update the BlackBerry Device Software or BlackBerry PlayBook OS.

The application also provides support for transferring settings and data to the new device, and it can manage multiple devices at the same time.

Through the BlackBerry Desktop Software, users will find it easy to sync calendar data, manage and update applications, or use the smartphone as a modem to connect to the Internet.

The latest version of the application comes with enhancements to data synchronization, as well as with better media syncing capabilities.

Moreover, BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.0 bundle 60 also comes with a series of fixes for issues that have been found to affect the user experience in Desktop Software 6.1 bundle 38.

The release notes for the new app flavor show the following:

- Previously, the BlackBerry Desktop Software was minimized in the system tray even though the Minimize to system tray option hadn't been selected.

- Previously, if the BlackBerry Desktop Software wasn't maximized on your computer and you connected a device that required a password, the password prompt was hidden behind other applications on your computer.

- Previously, when setting up a new BlackBerry smartphone associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, if your mailbox hadn't been added to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the BlackBerry Desktop Software didn't prompt you to contact your administrator to have your mailbox added.

- Previously, you weren't notified that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server was contacted when you were synchronizing your certificates and the random number generator was turned on.

- Previously, when you switched to a new device, the BlackBerry Desktop Software closed when you disconnected your old device while you were restoring data to your new device. The data restore stopped.
