And demand to be shutted down

American colleges and universities are connected to Internet2, a project that links over 200 universities and that is considered an updated version of the NSFNet, the successor of the original Internet called Arpanet.

Scientists regard Internet2 as an inter-college communication tool, but also as test platform for new applications and technologies specific for classic Internet. The design of this network makes possible the transmission of a DVD from one side of the United States to the other in just 30 seconds.

Benefiting from such advantages, I2 is a true paradise for students who share a humongous quantity of music, movies and software in maximum security conditions and at a unparalleled speed. RIAA could not have remained indifferent to such "barbaric" copyright violation which the organization is so carefully guarding and for that reason it will sue 400 students.

If until now, RIAA has focused its attention on the classic Internet and chased users who committed illegalities on www or P2P, now, this new technology is also targeted and one of the organization's claims is shutting down this structure.

The i2Hub file sharing service has been present in the American campuses for approximately one year. The administrators of networks from three locations have already been sued.

Among the universities targeted by the RIAA, we mention: Boston University, Columbia University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University, Princeton University, University of California at Berkeley, University of California at San Diego, and the list continues.
