Channing Tatum might be moving up in the world soon. The actor has become famous virtually overnight, but he's achieved his fame mostly because of box office films considered by experts as “light entertainment.” Let's face it, while extremely easy on the eyes and minds of viewers, “Magic Mike” was never going to win any Oscars.

Deadline reports that Tatum is getting some serious actor buzz as legendary director Quentin Tarantino has his eye on him for a major part in his upcoming western movie “The Hateful Eight.” Though it's still just a report, it's believed that Channing won't say no to the chance of starring in a Tarantino film.

The movie itself has already had a wild history, despite the fact that it hasn't even started shooting. Principal photography begins in January and it will include Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russel, Tim Roth and possibly Jennifer Lawrence, although that rumor hasn't been confirmed.

For his part, Tatum has just been confirmed to appear in an “X-Men” spinoff in which he will play the title role of “Gambit” and also in the sequel “Magic Mike XXL,” where he is both starring and producing.
