Windows 8 is coming and, since it will support the ARM architecture, Qualcomm decided to promise that, by the end of 2012, there will be at least one PC powered by its Snapdragon chips.

Qualcomm says this will help its products sell in markets where it couldn't before.

It aims for those people who would like to see their PCs capable of doing some things that their phones can.

“What developers are looking for will be dominated by what's happening on the phone,” said Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkop.

“The phone itself will be the center of attention for developers. And then they'll say how can they adapt that for the car and home. It's much easier to go after the market if you have leadership in smartphones.”

On this note, it will be interesting to see if Qualcomm can make Snapdragon much stronger than it is today.
