The XOLO Q1000 Opus 2 is yet another mid-range Android smartphone that makes its debut in India. The sequel to the Q1000 Opus, the new smartphone has been quietly released on the market, probably due to the fact that it doesn’t stand out from the rest of the devices in the same price range.

Speaking of which, Indian retailer Snapdeal now offers the XOLO Q1000 Opus 2 for Rs 9,780 ($165 / €120), which might be slightly too much for what the smartphone has to offer.

The suggested retail price announced by XOLO is a bit higher than that, which would have made the phone even less popular among Android users. According to Snapdeal’s listing, the XOLO Q1000 Opus 2 should have been priced at Rs 10,499 ($175 / €130).

The good news is that the smartphone does not come with the older Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but don’t get your hopes too high. XOLO Q1000 Opus 2 ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform onboard and there’s no telling whether it will receive a KitKat update or not.

Although its predecessor was equipped with a Broadcom chipset, the Q1000 Opus 2 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8212 processor clocked at 1.2GHz.

It also features 1GB of RAM and only 4GB of internal memory. Luckily, the smartphone includes microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), so users shouldn’t have to worry about storage if they grab a cheap SD card.

The 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, while the 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back features LED flash, autofocus and HD (720p) video recording.

It’s also worth mentioning that XOLO Q1000 Opus 2 comes with a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and selfies.

XOLO Q1000 Opus 2 offers dual-SIM capability with dual-standby, as well as many other connectivity options such as 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS support and microUSB. The smartphone is powered by a 2000 mAh battery, which hasn’t been rated by the manufacturer yet.

Even though the Q1000 Opus 2 is a slight upgrade over the previous model, the pricing may not appease Android fans in India who already have lots of other alternatives at their disposal.

All in all, those who wish to give it a try can purchase either a black or a white color version from Snapdeal.
