Lava Iris 406Q is the second smartphone that should make its debut in India this week. We have reported earlier today that Lava Iris 450 Colour is now listed on the company’s website with the “Coming Soon” tag attached to it.

As fonearena points out, Lava Iris 406Q is now listed at major retailer Flipkart, but without any price tag. However, this means that the smartphone is likely to go on sale in the coming days.

Unlike the Iris 450 Colour model that we have mentioned earlier, Lava Iris 406Q will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

What’s even better is the fact that those who have decided to purchase the smartphone when it goes on sale won’t be stuck on this version of Android forever, as Lava Mobiles claims that the Iris 406Q will receive an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling whether or not the Indian OEM will keep its word, nor when exactly the promised update will arrive. Still, it’s good to know that Indian handset makers are more concerned about the software they pack into their products.

The rest of Iris 406Q’s specs are perfectly suitable for a mid-range smartphone, so don’t expect anything out of the ordinary from this device.

According to Fliparkt’s listing, Lava Iris 406Q comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, most likely provided by MediaTek. In addition, the smartphone packs 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The phone’s 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

Lava Iris 406Q offers 3G connectivity, so users will be able to take advantage of the secondary VGA front-facing camera that’s perfect for video calls.

Dual-SIM (GSM / GSM) with Dual Standby is another capability well worth the money. The Iris 406Q is powered by a 1700 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Other connectivity features available to Iris 406Q users include: HSDPA (21Mbps), HSUPA (5.76Mbps), Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS and Bluetooth.

Last but not least, it is also worth mentioning that Lava Iris 406Q will probably be available only in black and white colors. These are the only options listed at Flipkart, so there’s a high chance that they will be the only ones going on sale in the next couple of days.
