QNAP Systems, a Taiwan-based vendor of Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, has just announced the introduction of the new TS-419P and TS-419U NAS servers, coming to expand the company's line of Turbo NAS servers and provide customers with a desktop and a rack-mountable solution. Both products have been designed to offer them support for up to four hard drives in both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factors, delivering a more flexible alternative to a network-attached storage system.

“QNAP Turbo NAS servers are not just for big business,” Meiji Chang, CEO of QNAP Systems, Inc., said. “Our broad lineup of NAS servers touch home prosumers as well as home-based and small business customers with desirable features like cross-platform support, sharing of multimedia contents within the network, and advanced features like website hosting, stand-alone file downloading, and even recording of surveillance video from IP cameras on the network,” Mr. Chang added.

The new, desktop TS-419P Turbo NAS solution from QNAP has been designed to take advantage of the low-power 1.2GHz Marvell 6281 processor, which has been coupled with 512MB of DDR2 RAM and a dual Gigabit LAN connectivity interface. The server, which ships without an HDD, can be configured with up to four 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch hard drives, while the four USB 2.0 ports and the two eSATA connectors can be used to further increase the storage capacity of the NAS.

The TS-419U offers a similar hardware configuration, but in a rack-mountable form factor, ideal for SMB customers that need to increase their network's storage solution in a professional manner. In addition, like TS-419P, the rack-mountable NAS is built with a number of software features, including support for File Server, FTP Server, Backup Server, Printer Server, Web Server, My SQL Server, iTunes Server, Download station, and more.

According to QNAP, the new Turbo NAS storage solutions are already available worldwide at popular commercial distributors and resellers, although pricing details are yet to be unveiled.
