The iPhone Dev Team has released PwnageTool 2.0.3, which supports iPhone and iPod touch firmware 2.0.2 5C1. The new release also sports an updated version of Installer.app beta 6 and new .de localization for German users. There are no significant updates with regard to the 3G baseband unlock, according to the iPhone Dev Team.

"PwnageTool 2.0.3 is available," says the enthusiastic dev team on its unofficial, official blog. "This version provides support for iPhone/iPod firmware 2.0.2 5C1, it has an updated Installer.app beta (b6) and contains a new .de localization for our large amount of German friends. The application SHOULD ONLY be downloaded as a .tbz file from our servers and should NOT be decompressed using the application called 'the unarchiver' (this breaks permissions within PwnageTool) just use the standard OS X built in 'Archive Utility' to decompress. The SHA1 sum of PwnageTool_2.0.3.tbz is 91e670e0c623cd43f5e8cfbfaae6c23d98d8f31b."

The team also notes that the '150' beta update to the Windows QuickPwn application is also available, containing a revised GUI and tighter integration into the main updated QuickPwn executable. The latter, in turn, "has fixes for YouTube and provides BootNeuter support for the unlock of 2G iPhones," the team explains, also advising users to remember this is still beta software, therefore they will be using it at their own risk.

The iPhone Dev Team also notes that the Windows version of the QuickPwn tool doesn't work well with virtualization "as there are some problems with the way USB resets are handled". The team actually advises against using the software under virtualization programs, but can confirm "some success with VMWare Fusion 2.0 Beta 2," based on user-feedback. Nevertheless, "this shouldn't be relied on," which is why users must go with the PwnageTool, or at least wait for the Mac version to arrive.

According to the team's post, QuickPwn for Mac is being tested thoroughly. It will be released when it is ready for public beta. "This won't be within the next 24 hours, but should be within the next week," the team notes.
