14 DAY TRIAL // O2 UK is trying to boost Galaxy Ace sales and added a new color that is meant to make it more appealing, purple.
Just like standard black version, purple Samsung Galaxy Ace is available for free from O2 UK with a two year agreement starting from £10.50 ($16 or 12 EUR) per month.
Unfortunately, the cheapest plan does not come with data included, which is almost mandatory for an Android smartphone.
Even though the new model offers the same features as the original Galaxy Ace, O2 UK has dubbed the handset as Samsung Galaxy Ace Purple, possibly for marketing reasons.
Although it's just a matter of taste, customers who prefer purple color over black can order the smartphone online starting today.
Hardware-wise, Galaxy Ace Purple is equipped with the same 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227, complemented by an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit.
Samsung Galaxy Ace was launched on the market back in February, as a mid-range Android phone at a time when most Android high-end devices were delivered with 1 GHz single core CPUs.
However, since most handset manufacturers are now focusing on launching dual-core smartphones, the Galaxy Ace dropped into the entry-level range.
Still, the smartphone has a lot to offer, especially for first time Android users who prefer an affordable device over an expensive one.
The smarpthone was initially delivered with Froyo on board, but in the meantime Samsung deployed the latest Gingerbread platform.
In addition, the handset has been implemented with Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz 3.0 user interface on top of the operating system.
Galaxy Ace has a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 320 x 480 pixels resolution, which is protected by Gorilla Glass display.
It also packs 150 MB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included), as well as a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash.
