Compliant with MIL-STD 810F

Solid State Drives are slowly becoming a market standard, as technology allows for improved and higher performance levels, which makes it so that more and more flash-based product markers are announcing their own SSD-based storage solutions. Ultimately, SSDs are expected to replace mechanical hard disk drives, and to enable better performance and more storage in an affordable form factor. On that note, pureSilicon has just announced its new Renegade Series Solid State-Drives.

 

Unlike most storage product makers, pureSilicon decided to go for a niche market by featuring its new SSDs with a hardware-based encryption approved by the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS). In addition, the new Renegade SSDs have been built to withstand harsh working environments, as they are compliant with MIL-STD 810F, a military standard that requires the SSD to go through a series of extreme and rigorous tests, while sustaining a reliable operation.

 

The Renegade SSDs have been designed to meet the requirements of users working in the most challenging environments, where traditional hard drives, or other consumer SSDs, can't manage the heat, vibration and humidity. Additionally, the on-board cryptographic processor delivers a 256-bit AES encryption, which offers instant encryption and decryption of data without compromising performance.

 

Speaking of which, performance specifications include a maximum transfer rate of 300 MB/s, with a a sustained read speed and write speed of 45 MB/s. The Renegade drives are available in capacities ranging from 4GB to a maximum of 128GB. They come in 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch form factors, and provide a mean time until failure (MTTF) of 2 million hours. In addition to the ruggedness and the technical performance of the SSDs, the company also claims to be delivering products that are energy efficient, as its goal is to increase productivity in the mobile environment.

 

pureSilicon hasn't specified any pricing details for its Renegade lineup of SSDs.
