Although the DARWINmachine Hammerhead HMR989 system was cool enough on its own, the guys over at PurePC have decided to take it to a whole new level, replacing its internal components with some latest-generation ones.

The original HMR989 from DARWINmachine has generated rather mixed opinions with readers, but it seems that PurePC was quite impressed with the case design, since they've decided to adopt it for their latest gaming behemoth, the Pure Luxury.

While the case hasn't suffered any modifications (well, apart from a different paint job, that is), things are actually quite different as far as the interior of the Pure Luxury is concerned, the system packing some of the most powerful components on the market.

So, the Pure Luxury system is powered by an Intel i7 990x processor that's been overclocked up to 5ghz, combined with an Asus X58 Rampage III mobo and Kingston Hyper X T1 memory modules (available in either 12 or 24GB capacities).

But that's just the tip of the iceberg, since this system also packs two NVIDIA GTX 580 GPUs (while still leaving enough room for a third one), as well as 2TB of storage provided by Western Digital HDDs, as well as two Kingston V+ Solid State drives, for ultra-fast boot times and overall system behavior.

As a quick recall, the HMR989 system featured a very futuristic case design, that, beside its strong visual impact, also delivered a very good level of versatility, all of the internal components being very easily accessible, while the back panel is oriented downward.

Unfortunately, while the original DARWINmachine Hammerhead HMR989 system was somewhat affordable (priced at around 2,900 US dollars), things are completely different in the case of the Pure Luxury system, that's been priced at around $9,500, which means that only a handful of people with lots of spending cash available will be able to afford one of these things.
