This past Monday, an employee of a Kansas City tow lot was shocked to discover that one of the impounded vehicles under their care was home to a 12-week-old Terrier-Schnauzer mix.

It appears that the pooch somehow ended up spending nearly a month trapped inside this vehicle.

Despite her not having any water at her disposal, the pup managed to survive by feeding on leftovers found inside the car.

When found by the tow lot employee, the dog was both dehydrated and starving. Needless to say, she was also scared senseless.

Dog Heirs reports that the puppy is now looked after by the staff at the Kansas City Pet Project.

“It seems a little too crazy to be true, but it is. She's really scared. She has been since she got here. She's shaking, poor thing,” a spokesperson for this animal shelter reportedly said.

Kia, as this puppy is now named, is expected to make a full recovery in the weeks to come.

Given the fact that the car's owners never made an appearance at the tow lot in order to claim their puppy, authorities are now out looking for them.

It is to be expected that criminal charges will be filled against them once they are found.
