The surgery was performed by veterinarians working with the Bristol Zoo

Following its getting cataract, one puffer fish living at the Bristol Zoo had to be operated on by a team of veterinarians.

Since the fish's right eye was badly affected, the vets who performed the surgery were left with no choice except remove it altogether.

“We had to move quickly to help. The eye was very swollen so it became apparent she was going to need an operation,” explained Jonny Rudd, now working as an assistant curator at the Bristol Zoo.

Sources say that the surgery lasted for about one hour, and that Mini, as this puffer fish is called, recovered fairly quickly from the procedure.

Despite the fact that Mini had to be taken out of the water in order for the veterinarians to be able to operate on it, it appears that the fish was not it any way harmed by this experience.
