Regional Canadian carrier Public Mobile has just announced the availability of another feature-phone, the ZTE E520.

This is the third ZTE handset introduced by Public Mobile, and the sixth feature-phone released by the carrier since 2010.

Although the ZTE E520 has little to offer in comparison with modern smartphones, it appears that this is the first Public Mobile handset delivered with Instant Messaging support.

The mobile phone is available for purchase for a suggested retail price of $70 (about 52 EUR), but various add-ons can be added, which are supposed to make the phone even more convenient and appealing.

ZTE E520 comes with a small 2.4-inch display and sports a mediocre 1.3-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

It is email and web friendly and comes pre-loaded with a web browser (WAP 2.0), as well as text and picture messaging (MMS) capabilities.

Other highlights of the feature-phone included Bluetooth connectivity, speakerphone, music and video player, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Users can store video files in the My_Videos folder in the root directory of the microSD card when saving to the memory card.

It is important to save all file in this folder, as the phone loads video files only from this folder. In case the folder is not automatically created, user can manually create the My_Videos folder on their microSD card, directly in the root directory.

As expected for a Canadian phone, ZTE E520 comes with two languages, English and French, which can be selected from the menu / Settings / Language.

Users can transfer data between a PC and the phone's microSD card can only via USB Mass Storage mode.

According to Public Mobile, the phone's battery should provide up to up to 6 hours of talk time or up to 3 hours and 20 minutes of standby time.
