Good news and bad news for Prototype 2 fans today, as Activision has confirmed that the PC edition is now scheduled to arrive after the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions, while console gamers that buy the game new will see their copy of the title upgraded to the Radnet Edition.

Prototype 2 has been in development at Radical Entertainment for quite some time, with plenty of gamers looking forward to once again wield impressive powers in a war torn New York City.

We’ve already seen two of the pre-order bonuses offered by Activision for the game, and now some other details have appeared.

First up is a piece of bad news for PC gamers, as their version of Prototype 2 has been pushed back. This means that, while PS3 and Xbox 360 owners still get the game in April, they’ll be able to enjoy it on July 24.

While such a delay is quite sad, things get even worse for PC gamers, as this means they won’t be able to enjoy the free goodies that Activision and Radical will deliver to PS3 or Xbox 360 owners that get new copies of Prototype 2, which has now been upgraded to the Radnet Edition.

Basically, this means that those who pre-order the game or buy it new during the first weeks after release are going to receive a special code, which allows them access to 55 pieces of free additional content for the game, which are going to be launched throughout a seven week period after Prototype 2’s launch.

“Radnet is an awesome mix of over 55 pieces of additional content including Events, friend vs. friend competitive score Challenges and weekly themed Rewards, that span a seven-week period beginning April 24th 2012,” Radical revealed.

“Included in those ‘Rewards’ are exclusive items such as Behind-the-Scenes videos from the development team, bonus Mutations for Sgt. James Heller in the game’s main campaign, Avatar accessories for the Xbox360 and Dynamic Themes for the PlayStation 3. 100% free and at no extra cost if you purchase a new copy of Prototype 2 while supplies last.”
