Promote Systems has just announced a new major firmware update for its Promote Control remote controller that comes with a wide range of new features as well as new DSLR camera support.

Thanks to the new firmware version, 3.0, Promote Control now works with Sigma's SD1 and SD1 Merrill DSLRs, but it doesn't offer support for the Focus Stacking feature.

One of the great new additions to Promote Control is the ability to remotely control multiple video options like start, stop, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and even perform rack focusing. Unfortunately, only Canon DSLRs that have a Live View feature will be able to take advantage of this new option.

Moreover, the new firmware build also comes with improved Time-Lapse features, allowing you to repeat a time-lapse sequence at a pre-defined interval. This will help you create extensive time-lapse videos that span several months.

The new Time-Lapse option can now shoot at constant intervals that range between 1/10 of a second and several hours, giving you the possibility to create HDR time-lapses and take an unlimited number of photos.

The HDR mode has also been revamped and now supports even more camera models than before. The new HDR option will automatically switch to Bulb exposure when enabled, can now capture bracketed frames in reverse order, and can include up to 45 images in one bracket with steps ranging from 1/3 to 9 EV.

Moreover, the new Bulb Ramping mode will give you unprecedented control over your exposure up to 1/3 shutter speed, reducing flicker. ND filters up to 10 EV can also be added in 0.1 EV steps using the new settings.

Among other features, we can also mention a battery status indicator, Nikon/Canon quiet shutter mode support, mode switching shortcuts, curve shifting, pause ramping, and others.
