Official Microsoft announcement expected at X06

Peugeot just launched the fourth edition of its design contest, where amateurs and professionals worldwide can engage in a battle for the looks of the next generation vehicle by the French manufacturer. Submissions for the contest are to be received between October 6th and December 4th and the winning entry will turn into a full-size model on display at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. So far, so good, but in what seems to be a most impressive leak from Peugeot, we find out about Project Gotham Racing 4 being in development. As an added bonus for this year's contest, the winning car will also become a fully developed virtual model, in the yet to be announced Xbox 360 game.

While news that Bizarre Creations is working on Project Gotham Racing 4 may come as no surprise, it's quite unexpected to receive such news from Peugeot, of all people, rather than from the Microsoft source itself. The PLEASE program invites designers to project the following values unto Peugeot's new look: Pleasurable (to drive), Lively, Efficient, Accessible, Simple and Ecological. Attendants must keep in mind there is a 6000 Euros prize awaiting the winner in the form of a cheque.

It appears Microsoft is intending to announce Project Gotham Racing 4 at its X06 event, later this month, but Peugeot leaked the news first. Microsoft was unavailable for comment at this time, yet the plan is to release Project Gotham Racing 4 on Xbox 360 towards the end of 2007 or in the first half of 2008.
