If you are fan of From Software's Souls games, your heart will probably start racing at the mere mention of a Demon's Souls sequel or another title in the same genre to be released by the Japanese company.

But before going into details, we recommend everyone to take this information with a grain of salt until we get more info on From Software's next title.

Rumors on Demon's Souls 2 surface last year when various online retailers listed placeholders of the title. However, none was accurate and both Sony and From Software denied they are working on a Demon's Souls sequel.

Still, sources familiar with Sony's plans confirmed a few months ago thatthe Japanese company and From Software were working together on another title that'll probably be launched on PlayStation 4, and perhaps PC.

No information on the new title has emerged until now, but everyone is expecting From Software to eventually release a sequel to its masterpiece, Demon's Souls.

Well, it appears that the Japanese developer is indeed working on the new game that is now referred to as “Project Beast.” While this doesn't look like a sequel to Demon's Souls, it does seem to be set in a similar dark world that makes it looks like a Souls game.

The first screenshots of the so-called “Project Beast” have just been published on NeoGAF for everyone to enjoy. If they're legit, then Sony and From Software will probably announce something in the coming months.

“Project Beast” is playable now, or parts of it at least. The description on NeoGAF mentions that the main character makes use of various weapons, including a double barreled gun that looks like a shotgun.

One of the enemies encountered in the game is described as a giant mindflayer and there's also magic included (fireballs). There's also some text that the person leaking these screenshots did see in the game: “This is a nightmare.”

There's no telling if these screenshots are real or just some faked photos of something that does not really exists. Each of the leaked pictures have a small mouse cursor on the right side, which is an indication that these screenshots have been taken from video perhaps.

Regarding the artwork, the enemies and the character shown in these screenshots screen From Software from all over, so there's no doubt that he or she who photoshopped these knew what they were doing. We do hope these images are real though, but what do you think?
