They are quite colorful and have carbon fiber tonearms

The more famous a disk jockey, the more elaborate the turntable, but for those who put more stock on sound quality than appearance, Pro-ject has revealed the Debut Carbon.

The Debut Carbon turntables get their name from the carbon fiber tonearm. Understandable, seeing as how that is the only fancy component.

Everything else is understated, but that doesn't stop the turntables from producing high-quality sound.

Also, though the Pro-ject Debut Carbon are simple in design, they make up for it in color variety. There are red, green, black, white, grey, even yellow options.

Anyone who thinks the Debut Carbon can fit in their home entertainment systems just need to cough up $400 / 400 Euro. Pro-ject is already accepting orders.

"In the ways that analog trumps digital, I'm confident the Carbon will sonically outperform any cheap CD player, particularly in terms of musical flow and general warmth," said Michael Fremer, Stereophile.

"Pair it with a Bellari tubed phono preamp and play the combo for a kid weaned on MP3s and he or she is likely to start bawling. Literally. The sense of depth and spaciousness plus the image stability is impressive. Most highly recommended. I don't know what else comes close for $399."
