Konami Digital Entertainment has announced it is to reissue its million-selling Pro Evolution Soccer 5 as a budget title for PlayStation 2 on May 12th. The game, widely seen as the definitive football title for any format, will be released in new Platinum packaging and will enjoy a new price of 19.99 Euro.

Released as a full price title in October 2005, Pro Evolution Soccer 5 has won a new legion of fans with its tight, beautifully realized gameplay. Recognized as the most realistic football series for any format, Pro Evolution Soccer 5 features more licensed clubs - including Arsenal, Chelsea, Porto and Celtic - than its predecessors and a wealth of features that range from online play for up to four players to new refinements to the way the players move and control the ball.

The much heralded gameplay has been tweaked with more emphasis on ball control and the physical nature of the game. Players now battle for every ball and have total control over the passes, through balls and quick interchanges they have at their disposal. Coupled with much improved goalkeeper AI, more instinctive shooting and fantastic off-the-ball runs by other players, it combines to create a major advance in football simulations.

"As football fans gear up for a fantastic summer of football, we are delighted to be reissuing the definitive football title at a new, low price," commented Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami Digital Entertainment. "Pro Evolution Soccer 5 is rightly seen as the most realistic football title around, and with the advent of online play in this version we have seen the series' popularity continue to rise. With its new price point, we anticipate fans catching football fever will turn to Pro Evolution Soccer 5 to satiate their need for more of the beautiful game."
