Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. has announced that Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, the latest entry in the long-running football series, has received a significant price cut for the PlayStation 3 from Sony and for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

For the time being, the current-gen home console versions of PES 2011 will be sold for 29.99 dollars, while the version for the older PlayStation 2 will cost just 19.99.

Those who are interested in the all-new Nintendo 3DS version of the game, which uses the three dimensional gaming capabilities of the handheld to put the player in the middle of the action, should know that it still costs 39.99 dollars.

The Nintendo Wii version has not received a price cut.

Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc, has stated, “We at Konami would like to thank fans for their ongoing support of the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise by providing them the opportunity to enjoy the latest installment for less.”

He added, “We also hope those fans who haven't played Pro Evolution Soccer take this opportunity to get into the game. The game also features UEFA Champions League and the Copa Santander Libertadores licenses to boast the most lifelike soccer experience to date.”

PES 2011 has not performed as well as FIFA 11, its rival from EA Sports, and the price cut might be an attempt from Konami to make the game more attractive in the coming months, before the excitement builds up for the new entries in the football simulation genre.

Konami has not offered any information on what fans might expect from Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 or when the game might be launched.

PES 2011 was focused on total players control and the team working on the sequel might aim to refine the system and make it easier to use by the player.
