Can't resell the game for a quick buck?

Last time we've mentioned a PES issue was when that extremely funny glitch video popped up, but now things are different, since this is not really a glitch, but rather one of Konami's bold decisions. Turns up that you can only create one online account when you play PES 2008, which can be used only by the original owner of the game. So, if you plan on lending or selling the game, you'll also have to sell the account details.

As such, the online registration manages to lock the game and only allows you to play Konami's game, at least online. This is a first for a PS3 title and the whole story resembles a similar feature, present in BioShock, which frustrated many gamers at the time. No statement for now, from PES 2008's producers, but what we know for sure is that this locking will have an effect on the public who chooses to buy used games or the folks who resell games in order to earn some cash. Nobody's keen on handing over his personal account details to another person, because most of us usually use the same passwords for most of the e-mail, gaming and other services' accounts.

Sony's pulled a similar move with its audio and video contents, but it was rather based on the rights management. What if, one day, every game in the world would stop working if you've played it for 60 hours or completed its main storyline? Want more? Pay for it... That way, we'll purchase $10 worth titles and pay up as we try to unlock new features... This is what we're heading to, but such a system is usually hackable and can make the game producers lose a lot of money. Still waiting for Konami to clear things up though...
