Prince lives his life in such perfect isolation from the outside world that he doesn’t even own a phone or have clocks on the walls of his house / record studio, he tells V Magazine. One thing he’ll never compromise though is the quality of his music.

In the lengthy interview, the rock god talks about his new band 3RDEYEGIRL, working with women, disengaging himself from the noise in the music industry and, last but not least, the respect he has for his fans by always singing live.

“People come to see us fifty times. Well, that’s not just going to see a concert—that’s some other mess going on. This music changes you. These people are not being satisfied elsewhere by musicians, you feel what I’m saying?” Prince says.

“It’s no disrespect to anyone else, because we’re not checking for them. But we don’t lip synch. We ain’t got time for it. Ain’t no tape up there,” he adds.

I know some of you will say that pop stars often lip-synch because they also do complicated choreographies but think of it this way: Pink does air acrobatics and she never sings to a pre-recorded tune. And she’s just one example.

In the end, as Prince puts it, it’s all down to how much you respect your fans.
