Gametreeonline has confirmed that EA's latest Sims game, The Sims 3 for Mac, is now available for pre-order. The online portal is accepting pre-orders for the simulation game that adds a few twists to the genre, such as customizable personalities, goal-oriented gameplay, movie creation and editing, and an online community.

New to the popular simulation title is the ability to choose up to five traits to create individual personalities. Fresh design tools let players customize the appearance of their Sims while they can manipulate aspects like their Sims' shape and size, facial features, skin tone, hair color and style, eye shape and color, clothing and accessories. The new “seamless” neighborhood environment lets Sims roam to neighbors’ homes and explore their surroundings, take walks or simply hang out. Now, players will be able to customize the Sims’ environment more extensively, changing colors and patterns of decor, floor coverings, wall coverings, shirts, furniture and more.

“The Sims 3 is an incredible game that lets you play with life, create art and show off your creations,” said Ben Bell, Executive Producer, The Sims 3. “In the game, players are inspired by endless creative possibilities like the new Traits and Lifetime Wish features which allow players to create Sims with real personalities and destinies. Players can then take their Sim into town to interact with other Sims in the game and capture the action on video to show off online.”

“The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3,” said Russell Arons, Vice President of Marketing for EA. “The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009 as we build off the success of the best-selling PC franchise of all time to create awareness with both loyal Sims fans and new players.”

The Sims 3 for Mac requires an Intel processor, Mac OS X Leopard, 2 GB of RAM, and one of the following graphics cards: ATI X1600 or NVIDIA 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100. Mac owners also need at least 6.1 GB of free hard drive space, with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games. PowerPC Macs are not supported, and neither are Macs using the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards.
