Swag from Activision at specific retailers

Prototype is one of this summer's most anticipated titles, promising to deliver a massive open-world game in which gamers will play as Alex Mercer, a normal everyday man who, due to an unfortunate turn of events, now has mutant superpowers and must escape an Army-filled New York by using his powers against them and free running through the city.

The game has already generated a lot of hype and, in order to properly cash in on the gamers' interest, Activision, the publisher of Prototype, has just announced the pre-order goodies that will be given to people who are willing to drop 5 dollars in order to secure their copy of the game when it will be released.

Here are the North American retailers that will be able to offer special pre-order bonuses to customers and what these goodies will consist of:

GameStop - Alex Mercer Collectible Action Figurine, 2-sided Critical Hints Location Map / Poster Become the most deadly shape-shifter of all through the collection of critical hints sprawled across the vast expanse of New York City. Collecting and absorbing the information with in these critical hints will give players a tremendous tactical advantage.

This art book captures the details of Alex Mercer's character, shape-shifting abilities and weapons. Additionally it illustrates other characters, enemies, locations and infections that make up the Prototype game. The game background and conceptual art with in this book will impress all Prototype fans and gaming enthusiasts.

Take a deeper dive into the world of Prototype with an exclusive bonus comic from Wild Storm. Experience the action from a different perspective in this new series as you follow two NYC homicide detectives as they try to hunt down the game's protagonist, Alex Mercer.

All in all, some pretty interesting things, but it does beg the question as to why Activision couldn't just give players the chance to choose their pre-order swag from any of these retailers instead of being forced to go to one shop or another just to get the thing they are interested in.
