After hearing so much about wireless charging solutions over the past year or so, we were quite eagerly waiting to see live such a solution, and sure enough, we've had the chance to do so during the Mobile World Congress, where Powermat, the best-known name in this particular market segment, had setup a very extensive booth showcasing its latest achievements in this field.

And while the products currently available on the market are certainly nothing short of impressive, the truth of the matter is that things will look even better on the future, the company also showcasing quite a few of the products incorporating their technology that will make their way onto the market in the near future.

Those of you who're not quite familiar with the Powermat concept should know that we're talking about a charging solution that prompts the addition of a special accessory to a device, which enables the charging via induction, a process that involves absolutely no wires.

Of the things we've really liked about the Powermat is the fact that it enables a huge level of compatibility, working with a wide array of devices, from smartphones to tablets and from notebooks to digital cameras.

Plus, as far as future plans are concerned, it seems that the company's presence on the market will become even more serious, and that's because they've apparently entered a partnership with Nokia, following which the Finnish company will manufacturer mobile phones featuring built-in adapters for wireless charging.

And since we're on the topic of partnerships, it's also interesting to mention that Powermat has also inked a deal with one of the world's best-known airport seat manufacturers, which means that Powermat wireless chargers will start popping up in airports around the world in the very near future.
Another very interesting deal is the one signed with General Motors, following which future Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac products beginning mid-2012 will also offer built-in wireless charging capabilities (as depicted in one of the photos from the gallery).
All in all, we'd dare to say that Powermat is really a company to watch over the next couple of years, the current evolution of mobile technology putting in an ideal spot for huge growth and popularity.
