Nowadays, YouTube is the leader of the online video sharing services because it is powered by Google and owns the most impressive community on the Internet. In fact, YouTube is the only video sharing solution that really matters because there are no other powerful products able to challenge Google's solution. It seems like the things are going to change soon as News Corp. and NBC Universal are now planning to develop their own YouTube, aiming to create an alternative for all the disappointed users of the video service.

Although it might be a little difficult to create a big video database, the two companies are already working to resolve this problem by making several partnerships with several firms able to provide the content. LA Times sustained the two firms already partnered with Yahoo, Microsoft, Time Warner and MySpace, some of the companies that will bring a lot of clips, movies and TV shows for the firm.

"You're just pooling resources in the face of the most disruptive force your business has seen ever," said Eric Garland, chief executive of market researcher BigChampagne. The new venture, which could launch this summer, is envisioned as an advertiser-friendly destination for some of TV's most popular shows, including NBC's "Heroes" and "The Office," and "Family Guy" and "24" from News Corp.'s Fox. The companies also plan to sell downloads of Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox movies," LA Times sustained in the article.

Although some user might consider YouTube is way too powerful to be dethroned from the leader position, the new product has all the advantages to challenge Google's service and become even more popular. For example, the impressive number of complaints filed against YouTube bundled with the $1 billion lawsuits are clearly the most important Google disadvantages.
