PowerColor has just announced the introduction of a new graphics card built on the Radeon HD 6770 design which uses the company's second generation Vortex custom cooling system in order to deliver up to 25% better operating temperatures when compared to reference designs.

The new graphics card, which is dubbed the PCS+ HD6770 Vortex II Edition, is a mainstream option for consumers who want to build a mid-range gaming system and uses a custom PCB and cooling system design.

Both of these were improved in order to increase the overclocking headroom of the card, so PowerColor has equipped the PCS+ HD6770 Vortex II Edition with a 3+1 phase design with all solid capacitors.

The card has also received a second edition Vortex cooler which now comes with perforated fans to increase the airflow by as much as 13%.

Thanks to these changes, the PCS+ HD6770 Vortex II Edition has its GPU running at 900MHz, while the 1GB of GDDR5 memory works at 1225MHz (4900MHz data rate).

In comparison, the stock version of the HD 6770 has its core and memory clocks set at 850MHz and 1200MHz, respectively.

The Radeon HD 6770 is a re-branded version of the HD 5770 and it features 800 stream processors, 40 texture units, 16 ROP units, and an 128-bit memory bus which is connected to 1GB of video buffer.

“The Vortex Technology has got the patent certificate by Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan,” said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation.

“There is no doubt that this innovative cooling technology can maximize its benefit which we created from the original technology last year. It’s absolutely the best gaming solution in the performance segment.“

The PCS+ HD6770 Vortex II Edition is equipped with a pair of dual-link DVI ports, an HDMI port and a DisplayPort connector.

Pricing hasn't been established yet, but the card is expected to become available soon.
