AMD's currently strongest single-GPU video controllers are the Radeon HD 6900 series and it seems that a certain one of its manufacturing partners, PowerColor to be more exact, has again customized one of the series' members.

There are several ways through which a manufacturer can differentiate its products from those of its rivals.

In the case of graphics cards, special cooling and factory overclocking are the main two ways of standing out.

Of course, using special components (capacitors etc.) or modifying the amount of memory available are also possibilities.

What PowerColor did to its most recent model can be said to be a little different from what one would usually expect.

Basically, it created the PCS++ HD6950 video controller, which lets owners choose between two GPU clock settings.

The company designed the card with two BIOSes that one can switch between and, thus, change the clock of the graphics processing unit.

The default one has the GPU running at 880 MHz, while the other one tones it down to the safer threshold of 800 MHz.

Meanwhile, the product retains the 1,408 stream processors, 2 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, a memory interface of 256 bits and the dual mini DisplayPort outputs, HDMI and dual-DVI.

Finally, the memory works at 5,000 MHz and the there is full support for not just DirectX 11, but also CrossFireX (multi-GPU setups) and is cooled by a dual-fan solution (92mm) with three copper heatpipes and a copper base.

No pricing or shipment date details were provided, but it was revealed that the product bundle includes the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

"This product is like nothing else on the market with its dual mode setting design," said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation. "The PCS++ HD6950 is an innovative product with all the key features, it should be the solution which can fulfill any gamer’s demand."
