Earlier this month, Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices announced its latest addition to the successful line of HD 4000-series GPUs, with the introduction of the highly anticipated RV790-based Radeon HD 4890 graphics card. Designed to boost the performance of the company's previous flagship model, the Radeon HD 4890 delivers a considerable overclocking potential. This is one of the features that have led Powercolor, one of AMD's leading board partners, to roll out a new graphics card combining the ZEROtherm cooling solution and the massive performance potential of the HD4890 card.

According to the specifications of the new card, graphics enthusiasts will be able to take advantage of a core speed of 950MHz, while the onboard 1GB of GDDR5 memory has been clocked to an impressive 1100MHz effective memory speed. This enables the card to deliver a memory data transmission rate of up to 4.4 Gbps, ready to boost the performance of any PCI-Express 2.0-compatible PC.

“The PCS+ series features the overclocking abilities of our top-of-the-line graphics cards,” said Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation. “Our performance and enthusiast minded consumers will be pleased with this latest edition. The PowerColor PCS+ HD4890 is a well balanced and extremely overclockable card. There are not a lot of products that can compete with this card at its price.”

The company's new PCS+ HD 4890 graphics card is designed to leverage the cooling efficiency of ZEROtherm's cooling system. This solution features 4 heat pipes, a black Nickel-coated surface and an efficient fan to effectively reduce the thermal stress on the GPU.

With the introduction of the new card, which the company claims to be the “the fastest HD4890,” PowerColor has announced two models, the PCS+ HD4890, and the limited-edition Battle Forge PCS+ HD4890, which are currently priced at US$254 and US$249.
