And, for once, I completely agree with Boll

I usually find it extremely funny to write about Uwe Boll and the latest things he has done or said. Like the GTA movie plan, his non-stop biting of Michael Bay... all these things which prove to the entire world that he is nothing but a mediocre director that manages to get his hands on lots of great titles and the public doesn't like the result. But now, I don't find the story funny and, for the first time in my life (I guess), I totally agree with Boll.

Here's what happened: the movie Postal (inspired by Running with Scissors' game with the same name) was going to be released in the US in no less than 1500 theaters. Probably the biggest release a Uwe Boll movie ever had in the States and a change of genre, also: Postal is the first comedy directed by Boll since his first release. Still, even though a comedy, the movie is a pretty controversial one (it couldn't have been different having in mind the reputation created by the game). And because of that, the number of cinemas it will be released on next week will be... four! Yes, over 1400 theaters have said "no" to the movie after finding out that it features political jokes about 9/11, Bush and so on. And that is something I can't understand, something that seems completely wrong and against human nature. It doesn't matter anymore if we're talking about a movie made by Uwe Boll or not - it is a movie that was supposed to get its chance and now everybody is against it because some people don't seem to be able to understand that it is just fiction. And, atop of that, people have the right to decide themselves what to watch and what to ignore: it shouldn't be decided by others, no matter how powerful they are.

Of course, following the news that so many theaters have said no to the movies, Uwe Boll went mad and posted a rather lengthy statement on the Internet. And, even though I completely agree with him regarding one or two things he said, the rest is the same kicking and biting that made Boll famous. At least, I had a reason to smile after finding out the outrageous news about Postal. Here are some of the most interesting bits of his statement:

"To all of you writing now about me and the fact that POSTAL is not getting screens. It's okay? it's fun kicking a guy nonstop who is on the ground you are all not getting it that I'm the guy who made it against the big Hollywood system and you are all only busy to destroy me and finish me up. [...] POSTAL makes some very important points... but you don't wanna see that .... : that Bush used the SEPTEMBER 11 to start a war against a country what had nothing to do with Bin Laden etc.... but this all doesn't matter because you are all busy to THINK that INDIANA JONES or NARNIA are important movies ... but in real they are empty shells of an industry that wants to make money and wants to keep you looking 'escape movies' with nothing in them. [...] how many times you wanna keep going in movies only because the TRAILER was so cool and the CGI was so great?"
