NVIDIA’s new tablet will be an important upgrade from the original model

As it’s been over half a year since the Tegra Note 7 tablet was introduced, NVIDIA is naturally looking to provide fans of their first 7-incher with a successor.

This week a tablet-like product accompanied by the next-gen NVIDIA Shield gaming device were spotted going through the FCC, reports Liliputing.

Sadly, the FCC documents don't reveal much about the specs of the device, so all we can do now is speculate.

An NVIDIA tablet codenamed Mocha appeared in benchmarks not so long ago, boasting NVIDIA’s latest Tegra K1 architecture and a sharp 7.9-inch display with 2048 x 1546 pixels.

Further investigation into the topic revealed that the Mocha tablet might turn out to be a Shield-branded slate. And now that we’re seeing the two devices in the same filing, I can’t help but wonder whether there’s a connection or NVIDIA plans to release the two devices independently.

Compared to the first NVIDIA tablet, the Tegra Note 7, the new one should be a sensible upgrade. I certainly hope NVIDIA preserves the DirectStylus technology and the super affordable price tag.

What would a budget-friendly NVIDIA tablet with GameStream and Tegra K1 sound like to you?
