14 DAY TRIAL // Video game developer Zen Studios is announcing that its next project is a collaboration with Valve, which will allow the company to launch a Portal-themed table for Zen Pinball 2 and Pinball FX2 during the week of May 25.
Aperture Science Heuristic Portal Pinball Device is designed to capture the essence of the two titles that impressed gamers and will allow players to guide both Chell and Wheatley through a variety of test chambers.
Portal Pinball is designed to include the classic elements of the series, such as transdimensional portals, aerial puzzles, turrets and other exploration and movement-focused challenges.
The villain of the table will be GLaDOS, and the development team adds that gamers will be able to "team up with ATLAS and P-Body for their Cooperative Testing Initiative Multiball and wreak havoc on the Turret Factory by discovering Ratman's hidden mini playfield."
Images taken from the Portal Pinball content have been released, but not gameplay footage is being offered at the moment.
The development team at Zen Studios has not yet talked about the role that cake will play in the upcoming game.
The Portal-themed content will be offered on PC and home consoles for 2.99 dollars or Euro and on mobile platforms for just 1.99 dollars or 1.79 Euro.
Pinball is evolving across franchises and genres
Zen Studios has recently launched a solid table based on the Rebels spin-off linked to the Star Wars franchise, and it has moved very quickly to deliver the new Portal content.
The development team has managed to get access to some high-profile intellectual properties, including The Walking Dead and The Avengers, and the tables created based on them deliver interesting pinball-focused challenges and some cool narrative moments.
Zen Studios has not said whether it will be working on any other content with Valve, although fans would probably love to see a pinball title centered around DOTA or Team Fortress.
Presumably, in the coming months, the company will try to expand towards other big cultural moments, which will probably include the coming Jurassic World movie or, later in the year, The Force Awakens.
