Coming this year

Valve Software has confirmed that it will be launching a full-featured Portal 2 in time for the holiday season this year. This comes after more than one full year of rumors related to the new title and after Valve itself started dropping clues about the sequel through the first Portal and a set of radios that popped up during the game's stages.

Valve has not offered too many details as part of the initial announcement, not saying the actual price gamers will have to pay for Portal 2 or the platforms on which it will arrive.

Since then, GameStop has updated its information listing for the title stating that it will cost 60 dollars on the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft and 50 dollars on the PC, probably through Steam, which suggests the game will offer a more complete experience than the first iteration in the series.

The first experience arrived bundled with Half Life: Episode 2 and with Team Fortress 2 as part of the much lauded The Orange Box. Most gamers initially knew little to nothing about Portable and most were impressed with the gameplay idea behind the game and with the level of polish it offered, even though the single player element was not very big. Valve needs to pack significant moire content into Portable 2 if it hopes for a similar amount of love from gamers.

GameInformer is also talking about Valve offering a cooperative campaign for two players in Portal 2, allowing them to explore new areas of the Aperture Science Labs and face off against the so evil yet so entertaining GlaDOS computer system. It seems that the co-op campaign will be different from the main single player element. It's not clear how the two portal guns of the two players will interact and what new gameplay possibilities will be delivered.
