Toshiba, one of the leading manufacturers of storage and portable computer systems, has recently announced a new 400GB model added to the company's line of portable personal storage devices. Designed to meet the requirements of today's consumers who are looking for high-capacity solutions to backup their favorite music libraries, home videos and personal data, the new 400GB product comes as an ideal choice as far as large-capacity storage is concerned.

In a context in which the demand for high-capacity storage solutions is increasing from day to day, Toshiba delivers a product that offers USB 2.0 connectivity and can easily store up to 114,000 digital photos, 105,000 MP3 music files, a good 177 hours of DVD videos or even up to 47 hours of high-definition videos. In addition to the large capacity, the company's latest addition features the award-wining NTI Shadow software, a solution that allows even first-time users to easily back-up their personal content.

“With the constant influx of cherished digital content stored on home computers, consumers are looking for a fast and easy way to protect their libraries with little to no maintenance,” said Maciek Brzeski, vice president of marketing at Toshiba Storage Device Division. “Toshiba's click-free, switch- free and button-free backup solution caters to the average digital consumer – but with advanced features and high capacities that also appeal to the sophisticated technophile.” Brzeski further explained.

The company's USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive product line comes in capacities ranging from 160GB, to the newly released 400GB. The large capacity models are available in Electric Blue & Black, Carbon Grey, Hot Rod Red and Gecko Green coloring. They weigh 6 ounces (approximately 170g), and come with support for all computer systems equipped with an USB 2.0 port.

Toshiba hasn't specified the pricing details, but the new model should start shipping in October and sell through the company's website and major retailers.
