The decision will be announced today

This week, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers announced the organization received several demands for a separate domain able to host all the pornographic or adult websites. Although the proposal was denied in 2001 when they first received the suggestion, it seems like the organization will create a new .xxx domain because the Internet security is more and more threatened. The security companies are continuously raising concerns about the adult material invading the e-mails from every corner of the world that are often redirecting the users to pornographic content. ICANN is now under pressure because all the Internet users and companies are waiting for a decision that is scheduled for today.

According to the International Herald Tribune, ICANN will vote the domain and announce a final decision today. The board's 15 members have the possibility to approve it, reject it 100 percent or reject and let the matter for further analysis.

"If ICANN follows its bylaws and published processes then we'll get a positive outcome. If they stick to their rules, there is only one outcome and that is approval. ICANN's position is to make sure to enforce our obligations on us, not to do them in our stead. If we don't do them, ICANN can either make us do them, fire us and give it to someone else," Stuart Lawley, the chief executive of the proposal's primary backer, ICM Registry LLC, sustained according to the same publication.

Although the organization rejected the proposal in the past, I really expect a positive response as the Internet security is more and more threatened by adult material. For example, a lot of hackers are trying to include malware files or other types of infections through pornographic content. Using the xxx domain, an Internet user who is not looking for porn will be protected while he is browsing websites because all the adult content can be organized on a separate domain.
