Hundreds of domains referring to the pope's name have been snatched up

Since Pope Francis' election just two days ago, hundreds of domains including the pope's name have popped up.

Listed on eBay is just one of those domain names, on sale for the ungodly amount of $39,999 (€30,600), which I guess the seller thinks would be just pennies for the Catholic Church, if they decide to buy it.

“I am sure if you buy this domain, and try to sell it you will be a millionaire.

“This domain is better than apple.com,” the confident investor writes in the product description box.

A GoDaddy spokesman tells CNET that they have registered 100 buys of pope-related domain names in the first ten minutes after the announcement was made. They had almost 500 bought in the first hour, ending the day at about 650.
