Many of you haven't even heard of Rain, the Korean artist who sings numerous hits in Asia and attracted lots of fans. But what's interesting is that his website was hacked and more importantly, it was modified to host a money mule fraud attempt as the folks at F-Secure wrote on the official blog of the company today. It seems like the design used by the hackers on the malicious "Rain" website is implemented into some other pages which might show us that this was only a part of a long series of web attacks. Just like always, avoid publishing your information or any type of details on these websites as the attackers aim to obtain data in order to conduct other dangerous moves or to earn money through malicious activities.

F-Secure underlined the fact that money mules activities are often involving unsuspecting users but this new attack is quite new on the "illegal side" of the Internet since the entire page is hosted on a website previously known for being clean.

"Money mules are very often unsuspecting people getting tricked into helping out in money laundry schemes. They receive stolen money into their accounts, withdraw it in cash, and then transfer it to the bad guys by using some more anonymous service, such as Western Union," the message posted on the F-Secure blog reads.

"When authorities look into these cases the trail will always lead to the money mule, not the people behind the crime. We see these cases pretty frequently but it's not that often that a site gets hacked and used to host the mule site."

It's quite shocking to see that more and more websites owned by famous singers and artists are hacked every once in a while. A few days ago, it was reported that the MySpace profile of Alicia Keys was hacked, the attackers attempting to infect the users with some sort of virus.
