This July, brace yourself for a very scary ride, as the much anticipated “Poltergeist” remake is finally coming out, in 3D no less. The first two trailers for it, one domestic, one international, have been released and are available below.

The first “Poltergeist” movie came out in 1982 and was directed by Tobe Hooper and overseen by Steven Spielberg. It was such a hit that it’s now considered a horror classic.

Because Hollywood loves nothing more than to dig up classics and reinterpret or remake them for the younger audiences, the same is happening here, this time under the direction of Gil Kenan and producer Sam Raimi.

By the looks on these first two trailers, the result seems promising: there are enough scares in there to keep viewers on their toes, and the advances in technology are bound to make the VF more convincing than in the original.

As it should be, seeing how this remake has been in the works since 2009: they had more than plenty of time to get everything right, one would think.

The story revolves around a family who moves into a house built over a cemetery. At first sight, it seems like the perfect family home, until the little girl goes missing and the horrible truth comes out: there is a portal between the two worlds right inside the house and whoever got the girl has no intention of giving her back.

Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt play the parents, while Jared Harris is the psychic that will help them get their kid back. The little girl is Kennedi Clements.
